Indian Premier 2023 is going to arrive shortly with new excitement and joy. Cricket fans all over the country are eagerly waiting for the big event to commence. Besides all the happiness, there are also some disappointments. The IPL 2023 has prepared a tentative list of injured players. These players may not be able to participate and play.
Missing players in IPL 2023:
In the auction, we saw Nicholas Pooran join Lucknow SuperGiants for Rs 16 crore, and Hyderabad purchased Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal for Rs 13.25 crore and Rs 8.25 crore, respectively. Despite those transfers, franchises have faced some setbacks, too, with some players ruled out of the tournament due to their physical injuries. That is why some players will miss a few games.
Here is the list of injured players who may miss the upcoming season of IPL 2023:
Jasprit Bumrah (MI)
With the 2023 World Cup in sight, Jasprit Bumrah has been set out for the upcoming IPL season. He is one of the injured players and is still recovering from his back issue. He was on rest at the time of the T 20 world cup and the post-period international cricket matches. Bumrah’s target was to get fit before the IPL 2023, but he needed to confirm his fitness accordingly.
Rishabh Pant (DC)
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, also Delhi’s captain, will miss IPL as he is still healing from his freak accident, which happened on December 31, 2022. Pant is having the peak of his cricketing career. A few months ago, he had a horrible car accident that we did never expect. Now he is under the surveillance of expert doctors all the time, and he is expected to recover as soon as possible.
Kyle Jamieson (CSK)
Kyle Jamieson has also had to sit back and is recovering from a back injury. His injury recurred, and he also underwent surgery recently, which required a minimum of four months of proper rest. So, it is confirmed that he will not perform in the IPL 2023.
Jhye Richardson (MI)
Recently, Australian Jhye Richardson underwent surgery after suffering a hamstring injury. He has been ruled out from the 22 yards pitch for three months. Richardson managed to play only three matches in the last season for Punjab Kings and bagged three wickets. It is a sorrow that his fans will miss him this season.
Will Jacks (RCB)
On the other hand, English all-rounder Will Jacks is also out of IPL due to an injury. Will Jacks sustained a muscle injury while fielding in England’s recent victory in their second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur. Jacks made his England debuts in all three international formats this winter, winning his T20I and Test caps in Pakistan before making his ODI debut in Bangladesh. Being an injured player, Jacks will probably be replaced by Michael Bracewell in the upcoming season for RCB.
Jonny Bairstow (PBKS)
Famous English cricketer Jonny Bairstow has been out of action since last year after suffering an injury on the golf field. So, he is also on the list of injured players. The English Cricket Board still needs to give him medical clearance for further participation in any cricket match. So, his participation is yet not confirmed for the Indian Premier League 2023. Also, South African bowler Anrich Nortje is not yet confirmed and is recovering from an injury.
Shreyas Iyer (KKR)
Indian youth sensation Shreyas Iyer missed the final Test between India and Australia due to a recurring back injury. The BCCI is yet to announce a medical update. Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer was recently side-lined from the ODI series as his back problems resurfaced during the last Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As he is set to miss the first half of the IPL 2023, it puts KKR in trouble as they lack a player of the calibre of Iyer in their squad.
Prasidh Krishna (RR)
Iconic spinner Prasidh Krishna will also be absent in the entire campaign due to his recovery from a stress fracture injury. Prasidh suffered a back injury last September that ruled him out of action for six months. The sources also know that Sarfaraz Khan may miss IPL 2023 due to his injury.
Conclusion:
However, here is the list of injured players who may miss the upcoming IPL 2023. Although a few of them are confirmed to be ruled out, the rest of them in the list still needs to be confirmed.
