The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is confirmed to take place on November 24 (Sunday) and 25 (Monday) at Jeddah in the city of Saudi Arabia. A total of 1,574 cricketers including 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas players will be entering the auction pool.

Coincidentally, the mega auction goes hand in hand with Day 3 and Day 4 of the India vs Australia first test starting on November 22 in Perth. Two days after the commencement of the Border Gavaskar test series, the grand event is scheduled to take place. However, due to variations in time zones, the broadcast of the two events is unlikely to interfere with each other.

All ten franchises are allowed to build a 25-member squad that includes the retained players, thereby leaving 204 slots vacant at the auction. After retaining an overall 46 players for INR 558.5 crores, each team is left with a considerable budget to come up with a unique strategy during the mega-bidding event.

Interestingly, several players from the Associate nations have signed up for the 18th season of the auction.

An overall of 320 capped players have registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction including the Indians and foreigners as follows:

  • Capped International Cricketers: 272 (includes high-profile players such as Glenn Maxwell, Jos Buttler, Cameron Green, Will Jacks, and many more).

A maximum of 1,224 uncapped players have enrolled for the IPL 2025 mega auction, which includes a count of Indian and overseas cricketers:

IPL Mega Auction Place and Timings

The venue for the IPL 2025 mega auction is confirmed to be taking place at Abady Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah. However, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is yet to reveal an official announcement regarding the actual timings for the two-day event.

Earlier, Riyadh was considered as the hosting venue for the mega auction, but due to logistical challenges, the BCCI finalized Jeddah as the ideal destination. 

Budget Left for Franchises to Spend in IPL Auction: Overall Facts

All ten franchises have INR 641.5 crores to spend during the IPL 2025 mega auction to fill the 204 slots available, out of which 70 are allocated for foreign cricketers. Before submitting the retention list, each team was provided a purse of INR 120 crores to create a new squad. Ultimately, Punjab Kings has the largest purse remaining at INR 110.5 crores after retaining just two uncapped Indian cricketers, Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, for INR 9.5 crores.
