Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli added another exceptional record to his 50-over career on Sunday (February 23) by becoming the fastest batter in cricket history to reach the 14,000-run mark in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
The veteran batter’s 287th ODI innings in the Champions Trophy 2025 against Pakistan turned out to be a memorable one as he became the third batter after the former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara to achieve this impressive feat.
His match-winning knock against the defending champions, scoring an unbeaten 51st ODI century off just 111 balls (that includes 7 fours), guided India to conveniently chase the modest target of 242 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
It is noteworthy to know that this was Virat’s first century in the Champions Trophy since his debut season of the tournament in 2009. Also, he is the only batter to achieve more than 50 tons in ODIs.
