Gaurav kickstarted his cricketing journey as an 18-year-old boy. He considered the sport as a hobby in the starting stages, but he figured out his potential talent and decided to continue cricket as his profession with complete seriousness.
During a local tennis ball cricket match, he grabbed the focus of the former Indian leg spinner Narendra Hirwani, who was the selection committee chairman at the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) at that time.

1. First Class:
Marking his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh on 2nd November 2012, Gaurav Yadav’s beginning was steady in domestic cricket during the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy. But, he worked hard over these years to prove himself as a talented bowler in the domestic leagues.
Especially, his performances in the Ranji trophy elevated his talent to the next level. However, he delivered an impressive performance in the 2021-22 season, where he played an important role in his team’s successful campaign. Also, he was the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament as well as the top-performing fast bowler, who took 23 wickets in 5 matches.
He continued to deliver an outstanding performance in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, where he impressed the cricketing world with jaw-dropping bowling figures of 10-98 in the opening game against Delhi.

Gaurav Yadav achieved his first major achievement during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the season, grabbing 23 wickets in 9 matches. This helped him to strengthen his position in Madhya Pradesh’s bowling unit as a fast bowler.
4.Twenty20 (T20s):
